Villa Park, IL Real Estate
Before Villa Park was a Chicago suburb with ideal commuter access, it was a factory town for the Ovaltine Chocolate Company during the turn of the 20th century. The factory and the old railroad that once brought residents through the village are now closed, but the history remains. Now, commuters have easy access to the Metra Union Pacific West Train at the current train station.
What was once the old railroad is now a bike trail called the Illinois Prarie path, one of a few bike trails that go through the village. With over 5 miles of trails going through natural areas and the downtown area, Villa Park residents consider the town a fully walkable, bikeable community. If you choose to live in Villa Park, you’ll be moving into a very environmentally conscious community. The Village has a Water Conservation Program and regularly addresses environmental concerns.
For something other than historical attractions, the place to be in Villa Park for kids is Safari Land, a massive indoor family amusement park with an arcade, bowling, go-karts, and other rides.
The Metra’s Milwaulkee District West and Union Pacific West Lines have stops in Villa Park.
Check out MORE Brewery. They are well known in the brewers world for their limited release Henna beer releases, and serve up outstanding elevated bar fare daily. Try the Tikka Masala platter, a nod to one of the owner’s Indian roots.
