Westchester was once a longtime German farming community until it was founded in the 1920s. Built by an English utility tycoon who gave the village all English street names, Westchester eventually became a center for corporate business, coming full circle in the 1980s with the development of the Westbrook Corporate Center. These five 10-story towers contain more than one million square feet of office space, and serve as an anchor for commerce in town.
